Ralegh's Cross Inn to Taunton

This drive is around 33 miles in total and usually takes about an hour, allowing 15 minutes for dilly dallying along the way.

The Bampton Road is usually fairly quiet and well suited to the cars with a mixture of straight bits and twisty bits. The main road back to Taunton is wider and provides a more relaxed drive at the end of a 'hard' day behind the wheel.

Directions

Head back the way you came (ie turn left) on the B3224/B3190 headed towards Bampton.

Follow this road which skirts along the Exmoor boundary until you reach the T junction at the end in Bampton and turn left back towards Taunton on the B3227.

After a few more miles it's time to find a spot to swap the driver again and continue along this sweeping main road all the way to Taunton.

After passing through the narrow high street of Norton Fitzwarren you take the second exit at the first roundabout following the A358 for 50 yards and then the second exit on the next roundabout back down Silk Mills Lane/A3065.

Continue to the roundabout and take the first exit and then turn right onto Galmington Road after a quarter of a mile (just after the second petrol station).

At the mini roundabout turn right and then second left into Sherford Road and back to base.
